OverDrive for Visually Impaired

Question:
Are you aware of, or have examples of, public libraries using OverDrive audiobooks with visually impaired customers? We've had a question from one of our Special Needs customers who would like to burn some titles to CD, but because of her visual impairement, finds it difficult to burn to multiple cds, and would like to burn to just one CD. I'm not sure if burning to audio DVD is an option (and would require special software anyway).

Answer (from OverDrive Support):
Thank you for contacting Library Reserve support. Unfortunately, burning an entire title to a single CD is not possible, as OverDrive WMA Audiobooks are designed to be burned as audio CDs with one part per CD. Additionally, the audio DVD format is not supported as an option for burning Audiobooks to disc. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by these limitations.

Portable Devices

Question:
Where can I get a list of compatible portable devices with OveDrive books?

Answer:

Download Error

Question:
The following error code has occurred.

  • We're sorry, but an error occurred while processing your download.
  • Error code: 80131500 (or 80040812)
  • Error details: Failed call to fulfill the title.
  • The fulfillment limit (3) for the requested title has been reached.

Answer (from OverDrive Support):

We have reset the download link. By design, download links for OverDrive Audiobooks disable after three downloads.

Book Art

Question:
I have recently been having problems with downloading the book art that goes along with the original audiobook downloads. I could get it before but now I am having this problem. When it first occurred I got an error msg stating that it was not able to download the art. That was with only one book. I don't even get a message anymore but just a blank screen where the book art should be. I am using a Zune under the WMA when downloading

Answer (from OverDrive Support)
If the title they wish to transfer to a Zune has book art in a size compatible with the Zune, then the art should transfer when the audio files are transferred. That said, some titles do not have art work that transfers to portable devices.
